Manchester United are reportedly considering making a second offer for Bournemouth striker Joshua King on deadline day after seeing their initial bid rejected.

Manchester United are reportedly contemplating making a second offer for Bournemouth striker Joshua King after seeing their initial approach rejected.

The Red Devils are keen to bolster their attacking ranks after seeing top scorer Marcus Rashford ruled out for up to three months with a back injury, leaving them with only Anthony Martial and teenager Mason Greenwood as options up front.

The likes of Edinson Cavani and Willian Jose have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Sky Sports News reports that they have now switched their attention to King.

Bournemouth turned down an initial offer from United for the Norwegian yesterday, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side could return with an improved bid to force through a deadline day move.

King came through the ranks at United and featured under Solskjaer for their reserve team earlier in his career, eventually leaving the club in 2013 having made only two senior appearances.

The 28-year-old has since established himself as a regular Premier League player for Bournemouth, where he has scored 45 goals in 151 appearances, while he has also scored 17 goals in 46 international outings for Norway.

King would be United's second signing of the January transfer window after they finally completed a deal for Bruno Fernandes yesterday.
