Manchester United 'fail with move for Joshua King'

Manchester United have reportedly seen a move for Norway international Joshua King knocked back by Bournemouth.

King represented United between 2008 and 2013 but only made two first-team appearances for the Red Devils before leaving to join Blackburn Rovers on a permanent deal.

The 28-year-old has scored 45 Premier League goals during his time with Bournemouth, including three in England's top flight during the 2019-20 campaign.

United are believed to be desperate to sign a new forward before the January transfer window closes for business, with Willian Jose and Salomon Rondon recently linked with moves.

According to The Telegraph, the 20-time English champions launched a move for King and were confident of re-signing the Norwegian before Friday night's deadline, but Bournemouth insisted that the attacker was not for sale.

Marcus Rashford's back injury has left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, who completed a move for Bruno Fernandes on Thursday, short of options in the final third of the field.
