Report: Manchester United recall striker Will Keane from Preston North End loan

Manchester United reportedly recall striker Will Keane from his season-long loan at Championship side Preston North End.

Manchester United have reportedly recalled striker Will Keane from his loan in the Championship with Preston North End.

The 22-year-old was due to remain with the Lilywhites for the duration of the campaign, but has asked Louis van Gaal to bring him back so that he can prove himself in the Premier League, according to The Mirror.

"[It happened] in the last 24 hours or so," Preston boss Simon Grayson told Sky Sports News. "United felt they needed an extra body around them.

"Obviously it's disappointing to lose Will. In the last few weeks he's been finding his feet with us. But that is what happens when you get loan players.

"We accept it. We will probably go into the market over the next few days and weeks to bring in reinforcements. Hopefully he will do well for Manchester United."

Keane made 20 Championship appearances for North End, 12 of which were starts, and managed only one goal.

For United, the former England Under-21 international has made just one appearance, a five-minute cameo as a substitute in a 3-2 defeat at Blackburn Rovers on New Year's Eve 2011.
