Paris Saint-Germain reportedly prepare to withdraw their interest in Sergio Ramos, leaving Manchester United at the head of the queue for the centre-back.

Manchester United could be handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Sergio Ramos as Paris Saint-Germain prepare to withdraw their interest in the defender.

Ramos gave an emotional farewell to Real Madrid in midweek, as the 35-year-old prepares to end his 16-year stint with the club at the end of June following failed talks over a new contract.

Despite his age and injury woes, the Spaniard will not be short of suitors this summer, with Man United and PSG both being strongly linked with a swoop.

However, RMC reports that PSG have been put off by Ramos's €12m (£10.3m) yearly salary request, and the French giants will not pursue a deal unless he lowers his demands.

With a return to Sevilla supposedly off the table and Manchester City focusing on attacking targets for the summer window, United could therefore jump to the head of the queue for Ramos's signature.

Ramos leaves Real Madrid having won five La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns in the capital since arriving in 2005, and he is one of 21 players to have scored 100 goals or more for Los Blancos.
