Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that he does not know whether Rasmus Hojlund will remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of this summer's transfer window.
Hojlund was on the scoresheet in Man United's 4-1 victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday night, as the Red Devils made it two wins from their two matches at the Premier League Summer Series.
There remains widespread speculation surrounding the Denmark international's future, though, with a number of Serie A clubs said to be interested in signing him.
Man United have allegedly made RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko their number one striker target this summer, and it has been claimed that Hojlund will leave if the 22-year-old makes the move to Manchester.
Amorim hailed Hojlund for his overall performance against Bournemouth, but the Man United head coach could not guarantee that the Dane would still be at Old Trafford past the transfer deadline.
Hojlund scored in Man United's impressive win over Bournemouth
"The important thing is that people focus on the goals and we suffer a lot because of the lack of goals," Amorim told reporters. "But I think not just the goals, but the way he (Hojlund) connects the play.
"Every time we have to kick the ball, we are kicking the ball when we are more pressed. The ability for him to hold the defender and to connect in the support is helping us a lot to play better. And we are playing better because he is playing better.
"I am really happy with Rasmus. I don't know what is going to happen until the end of the market. The important thing is that the strikers that are here are working really well, are improving, are helping the team and that is the most important thing.
"The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals. He's connecting really well with the team. He's improving. Again, I don't know what is going to happen until the market is closed."
Is it over for Hojlund at Man United?
There is no getting away from the fact that Hojlund struggled during the 2024-25 campaign, only managing 10 goals in 52 appearances, with his Premier League record standing at four goals in 32 appearances.
The 22-year-old has managed 26 goals in 95 appearances for Man United since his arrival from Atalanta BC, and there is strong interest from Italy in his services.
Hojlund has looked bright during pre-season, but the fact that Man United are determined to bring in a new striker this summer tells its own story, and with Sesko emerging as the leading target, it does appear that Hojlund could leave Old Trafford during the current window to make way for the Slovenia international.
