Manchester United's James Wilson presses claims for senior role

James Wilson's stock continues to rise as he scores for Manchester United's Under-21 side against Tottenham Hotspur.

James Wilson improved his chances of turning out for Manchester United's senior side by scoring against Tottenham Hotspur's development team last night.

The 18-year-old was recently included in the squad by David Moyes for the trip to Newcastle United, but he was an unused substitute at St James' Park.

However, reports have suggested that the teenager could feature before the end of the season following his match-winning impact at White Hart Lane.

With the score locked at 0-0 in the 58th minute, the centre-forward struck a low shot from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom corner of the net, which proved to be the only goal of the game.

The Tottenham team contained Mousa Dembele, who has missed the last two matches through injury, as well as youngster Nabil Bentaleb.
