Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that Robin van Persie has been removed from penalty-taking duties at the club following his miss against West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies claimed a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford courtesy of Chris Brunt's 63rd-minute strike, but Van Persie had the chance to level the scores when United were awarded a spot kick 10 minutes before time.
However, the Dutchman saw his effort saved by Boaz Myhill which cost his team a point, and he will now drop down the pecking order like Wayne Rooney did following his miss against Liverpool.
When asked if Van Persie would continue in his role as penalty taker, Van Gaal told reporters: "No, he is now at the end of the road.
"It is always [like that]. Wayne has missed also so when you miss you are at the bottom again."
United are fourth in the Premier League following their third straight defeat.
