Louis van Gaal: 'My mother and grandmother know we have to score'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal hits back at fans who have been calling the team to attack in games, claiming that they are stating the obvious.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hit back at fans who have been calling the team to attack in games, claiming that they are stating the obvious.

The Red Devils have scored three goals in their last five games, prompting former midfielder Paul Scholes to claim that he "would not enjoy" playing for the Dutchman.

During Man Utd's Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow, many fans shouted "attack, attack, attack" in response to what they perceived to be a lack of incisiveness up front.

Van Gaal told BBC Sport: "When you are yelling 'attack, attack, attack', you have to think 'hey, is it all right to yell?' The fans want to let the players know that we have to score. Of course. My mother knows that, so does my grandmother."

Man Utd have scored three in their last two, beginning with a 1-0 win against the Russian side followed up by a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.
