Chris Smalling: "It was a complete performance"

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling believes that his side put in their best display of the season as they defeated Hull City 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling feels that his side produced a "complete performance" in their 3-0 victory over Hull City in the Premier League.

The Red Devils secured their third win in a row to close to within two points of Manchester City in third place, as strikes from Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Smalling himself guided Louis van Gaal's men to the victory.

Smalling has admitted that he was grateful for the goalline technology to register his first strike of the season, as he was unsure whether his close-range effort had beaten Allan McGregor at Old Trafford.

He told the club's official website: "I didn't think it was over the line initially. Thankfully the goalline technology gave it. I think [if] it's a case of whether it's over or not, the [technology] takes away that doubt.

"The manager said it was our best game of the season and I think it was. It was a complete performance.

"I think he said of the Arsenal result that we ground that out without particularly playing well, but this time we did. He's said he wants six points and we want to deliver that on Tuesday against Stoke."

United are fourth in the Premier League, with 22 points from their 13 matches this season.
