Luke Shaw determined to learn from dismissal

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw insists that he has "learned" his lesson after being dismissed against West Ham United last week.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw believes that he has "learned" a valuable lesson following his sending-off against West Ham United.

The 19-year-old was sent off in stoppage time in his side's 1-1 draw against the Hammers for a poor challenge on Stewart Downing, and as a result missed the Red Devils' win over Burnley in midweek.

Shaw told the club's official website: "It was a very frustrating one, especially as it came in the last seconds of the game. It was very frustrating for me.

"Maybe the first yellow card was a little bit light but I can't argue with the second one. It was in the heat of the moment and I wanted to try to win the ball as we were going for the win. I was unlucky to have caught him but it's something I've learned from."

Louis van Gaal's men face Preston North End on Monday in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
