Manchester United's Angel di Maria fit to face Arsenal following injury fears

Manchester United star Angel di Maria is declared fit for Saturday's Premier League showdown against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has dispelled fears over Angel di Maria's fitness by claiming that the Argentine is expected to feature against Arsenal on Saturday.

The 26-year-old was thought to be a doubt for the trip to the Emirates after picking up a knock during his nation's 1-0 defeat to Portugal at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Despite initial concerns, Van Gaal has claimed that the former Real Madrid star has trained normally, but left-back Luke Shaw could be missing due to a knock he suffered playing for England in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Scotland.

Goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to start for the Red Devils, despite dislocating his finger during a training session with Spain last week.

"Di Maria has trained today normally so I don't think that is a question mark, but Shaw is," Van Gaal told reporters. "De Gea is good, no problem."

Meanwhile, Daley Blind is expected to be out for a significant period of time with a knee injury, but Van Gaal has rejected initial suggestions that the Dutchman is facing a six-month layoff.
