Louis van Gaal rejects reports Daley Blind will be out for six months

Van Gaal clarifies Blind injury

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has clarified the confusion surrounding the severity of Daley Blind's knee injury.

The club's official Twitter page posted that the 24-year-old could be sidelined for around six months with knee ligament damage.

The midfielder suffered the problem last week during the Netherlands' 6-0 triumph over Latvia in their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

However, the social media account has now deleted the tweet after seemingly mishearing Van Gaal during this afternoon's press conference.

When asked about Blind's injury, Van Gaal told reporters: "He has a brace on his knee. After 10 days' rest, he'll have another scan that will say more about the injury.

"It's not as bad as the doctors thought after the match, but it shall be a long story, I believe, but not six months or something like that."

Initial reports have claimed that Blind will be out of action for around six weeks.
