Louis van Gaal: 'Angel Di Maria has no excuses'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says that Angel Di Maria was rightfully sent off during his side's defeat against Arsenal.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said that Angel Di Maria can have no complaints about getting sent off in his side's FA Cup defeat against Arsenal.

The Argentine had just been booked for diving by referee Michael Oliver, before he angrily grabbed the back of the match official's shirt and was subsequently dismissed.

"In Spain he knows that he doesn't touch the referee, but that is also in his emotion," he told BBC Sport. "I've already spoken with him, he knows my opinion but also I have to see on the video.

"I think he's touched the referee and that's forbidden in every country, so he has no excuses."

United will now continue their push for a top-four place in the Premier League with a clash against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
