Manchester United are charged by the Football Association for the conduct of their players against Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Manchester United have been charged by the Football Association for the conduct of their players during the latter stages of Sunday's FA Cup clash with Fulham at Old Trafford.

Aleksandar Mitrovic sent Fulham ahead early in the second half against the Red Devils, but an extraordinary period late in the match saw Cottagers head coach Marco Silva sent off alongside players Willian and Mitrovic.

Willian was given a straight red card for handling an effort from Jadon Sancho, before Mitrovic was sent off for his conduct towards referee Chris Kavanagh, with the Serbian charged with violent and improper conduct.

Mitrovic is facing a lengthy ban for his push on the referee, while Silva has been charged with abusive behaviour towards match officials, having approached Kavanagh when he was sent to the monitor to look at Willian's handball.

Bruno Fernandes ultimately levelled the scores from the penalty spot in the 75th minute before Marcel Sabitzer sent the Red Devils ahead two minutes later; Fernandes then netted another in the final exchanges, with Erik ten Hag's side progressing to the semi-finals courtesy of a 3-1 success.

Man United have been charged with improper conduct, as their players approached Kavanagh when the referee failed to award a penalty for what was a clear handball.

"Manchester United has been charged after its players surrounded a match official during the 71st minute of the FA Cup tie against Fulham on Sunday 19 March," read a statement from the FA.

"It's alleged that Manchester United failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or do not behave in a way which is improper. Manchester United has until Monday 27 March to respond."

Man United won the EFL Cup at the end of February, beating Newcastle United at Wembley to lift their first silverware in six years.

Ten Hag's side are still competing for three more trophies, reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup and quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Red Devils can still technically win the Premier League, although they are a massive 19 points behind leaders Arsenal, with the club instead focusing on securing a top-four finish.

The 20-time English champions are three points ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle United in the table on the same number of games (26), while they have two games in hand on fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and are one point ahead of the North London outfit.

Man United will return to action after the international break with a clash against Newcastle on April 2.
