Man City transfer news: Fabrizio Romano drops ‘here we go’ for £34.2m attacker signing

Manchester City have reportedly agreed a deal with Palmeiras to sign Brazilian winger Allan Elias.

The Citizens were first credited with an interest in the 22-year-old last week, shortly before a breakthrough was made in negotiations to sell Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur.

A package worth an initial £75m has been agreed between Man City and Spurs for Savinho, who has made it clear “since day one” that he wants to leave the Etihad Stadium.

It was reported over the weekend that Enzo Maresca’s side were making progress in talks with Palmeiras to sign Allan, who has a €100m (£85.6m) in his contract with the Brazilian club.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Man City have now reached a verbal agreement to sign Allan for €40m (£34.2m) plus add-ons, announcing the deal with his trademark ‘here we go’.

Documents are said to be in the process of being exchanged between the two clubs ahead of Allan joining Man City before the September 1 transfer deadline.

Allan started for Palmeiras in their 4-1 league win against Vasco da Gama on Sunday, and head coach Abel Ferreira was questioned on the winger’s future post-match, telling reporters: "I didn't want to say too much about Allan because I don't know what's going to happen.

“If he leaves, we'll lose quality, but not competitiveness. These teams want players like Allan because he does what 90% of the wingers here can't do: attack and defend down the flank for the full 90 minutes. That is why whoever wants to sign Allan will have to pay a lot."

Allan looks set to become Man City’s fourth first-team signing of the summer after the arrivals of midfielder Elliot Anderson, teenage winger Jeremy Monga and backup goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.

Since joining Palmeiras’ academy in 2019 and breaking into the senior side six years later, Allan has made a total of 96 club appearances across all competitions, scoring nine goals and registering 12 assists.

Six of those goals have been scored in 2026 for a Palmeiras side who currently sit top of the Brasileiro Serie A table, six points clear of reigning champions Flamengo.

Man City’s deal for Allan comes just a day after the club agreed a £85.6m transfer for 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, while Maresca’s side are also still in pursuit of Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.

Elsewhere, the Citizens have allegedly agreed to sell midfielder Nico Gonzalez to Newcastle United for £50m, just 18 months after signing the 24-year-old for the same fee.
