Willy Caballero determined to prove worth by replacing Joe Hart

Willy Caballero determined to prove worth

Manchester City keeper Willy Caballero has insisted that he is ready to step up to replace the injured Joe Hart.

The England international has been ruled out of action for at least 10 days with a hamstring injury, leaving Caballero to take his place in the City goal for their upcoming matches.

The 34-year-old has revealed that he is determined to prove his worth to the club by filling Hart's shoes until he is fit to return to the pitch.

He is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News: "The most important thing is to try and show myself, all my teammates and our fans that I can come in. I did really well in another team and I believe in myself that I can do the same thing here. This is my opportunity so I have to take it.

"I know Joe is in an amazing moment and is playing really well. He is one of the top three or four keepers in the world at the moment and I wish him all the best to keep improving to become number one.

"When I arrived here, I knew I came for this position and I tried to help Joe to improve and he has helped me too. We train really well and I wish him a quick recovery. I would like to enjoy this opportunity on the pitch."

City face Southampton in their Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium later today.
