Certain members of the Lyon playing squad could face sanctions from the National Ethics Committee for joining in with offensive chants aimed at rivals Saint-Etienne.
The French Football Federation has confirmed that it will investigate the incident, which took place after Lyon had defeated Quevilly 1-0 in the French Cup final at the weekend.
Lyon have since issued an apology for the actions of their players with a statement, which read: "OL wishes to express its sincere regret if a St Etienne friend may have been hurt by this unfortunate initiative."
Any punishment that is handed out is expected to be in the form of a fine.
