Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho takes to Snapchat to dismiss suggestions made by Jurgen Klopp that he is not fit enough to play first-team football.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has claimed that he is fit enough to play first-team football for the club and suggested that he is being denied the chance to build up his sharpness in the reserves.

During the final days of the transfer window, Sakho turned down a chance to leave the Merseyside giants on loan after falling down the pecking order at Anfield, and manager Jurgen Klopp has indicated that he is not near a return to the starting lineup because of his match fitness.

However, despite not playing a single minute for the senior side this season, Sakho has disputed Klopp's claims and alleged that he has also been frozen out of gaining valuable minutes with the second string.

After being left out of the squad to face Hull City on Saturday, Sakho took to Snapchat to give his take on his situation at the club, which shows no signs of being resolved in the near future.

The 26-year-old said: "Now it's three weeks, I am fit to play games. I finish all of my rehabilitation work. They don't want me to play also with second team lol! Why I don't know.

"Still working hard like Scouse Soldier! Still not talking cause I want to speak on the pitch. I will speak soon for the people who support me and don't understand the situation.

"Still happy to live in my Liverpool country with my family, hope to have chance to play soon to give my best like I try to do always.

"I accept the situation but I can't accept the lie. The fans deserve to know the truth! Thanks for your support. Six months stay quiet. Have good night everybody. You Never Walk Alone."

Sakho has made 80 appearances for Liverpool since joining the club in September 2013.
