Brendan Rodgers is furious at fixture schedule

Brendan Rodgers is unhappy that Liverpool's game with Swansea City was rescheduled for today, in the middle of a testing fortnight for the Reds.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that the Premier League do not help teams "whatsoever" when it comes to fixture-scheduling.

Rodgers must face his former side Swansea City in the Premier League today, despite the fact that Liverpool should have a free weekend after being knocked out of the FA Cup.

The Reds have had to juggle their Europa League campaign as well, and Rodgers thinks it could damage their chances of overturning a 2-0 deficit against Zenit St. Petersburg.

"I'm very disappointed with the Premier League," Rodgers told the Sunday People. "The game was scheduled for February 24 [when Swansea play the League Cup final].

"There were a number of weeks we could have played the game. To put it on when we had a game on Monday, a trip to Russia and a second leg next Thursday is another example of the Premier League not helping teams whatsoever.

"Every other country in Europe will try to help. It's bemusing to say the least."

Liverpool welcome Swansea to Anfield at 3pm this afternoon.
