Liverpool injury, suspension list and return dates for Galatasaray Champions League clash: Alexander Isak, Wataru Endo latest

After failing to defend their Premier League title, Liverpool are eyeing Champions League glory, and they will be hoping to start their knockout campaign strongly when they take on Galatasaray at RAMS Park in the first leg of their round of 16 tie on Tuesday.

Arne Slot's Reds bounced back from a 2-1 top-flight defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers by downing the Old Gold 3-1 in the FA Cup on Friday.

Aside from the victory, the Merseysiders will be pleased to have Florian Wirtz back in action after the German playmaker made a substitute appearance at Molineux, returning following three games on the sidelines.

Striker Hugo Ekitike was also rested on Friday, a factor that could be crucial given that the club are still missing record signing Alexander Isak as he works his way to full fitness.

The Reds still have high hopes for the young defender, and he will be keen to make a strong impact next term when he can link up with new arrival Jeremy Jacquet.

WATARU ENDO

Defensive midfielder Wataru Endo has been used sparingly by Slot this season, though he was unfortunate enough to suffer a serious ankle and foot injury that required surgery to repair during the Reds' clash against Sunderland on February 11.

The Japan captain is not likely to feature for his club again this season, though Slot said 'the plan is for him to be ready in time for the World Cup'.

ALEXANDER ISAK

Alexander Isak has had his debut campaign on Merseyside scuppered by injuries, and his latest setback - a complex lower-leg injury - necessitated surgery.

The striker began running on grass for the first time since December late last month, though he will not be ready to feature until April at the earliest as he steps up his rehab.

Like Endo and Isak, right-back Conor Bradley was also unlucky enough to fall victim to a major injury that required surgery - a knee issue in this case.
