According to Football Insider, club officials are monitoring the development of Mateta ahead of a bid at some point during 2021.
The 23-year-old has contributed seven goals and one assist during his 14 appearances in the Bundesliga this season.
With the Frenchman still possessing two-and-a-half years on his contract, Mainz remain in a strong position regarding the player's future.
