Leeds United ‘identify’ potential new manager with Daniel Farke in ‘serious danger’ of sack following poor run

‘Serious risk’ - Farke under pressure as Leeds ‘identify’ potential successor

Leeds United have reportedly identified Brendan Rodgers as a potential replacement for head coach Daniel Farke.

They started the campaign well enough but have since struggled in the division, losing six of their last seven matches, meaning that they have plummeted down the table.

The latest of those disappointing results arrived on Sunday afternoon, when a brilliant brace from Morgan Rogers secured maximum points for Aston Villa at Elland Road.

After losing three consecutive top-flight battles in November, Farke’s troops have dropped down to 18th in the Premier League standings, behind West Ham United in the safety of 17th on goal difference at the 12-game mark.

Things do not get much easier for Leeds, who are scheduled for a trip to the Etihad Stadium - the home of Erling Haaland and Manchester City - on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds considering Rodgers as mid-season Farke replacement?

According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are considering a change of management following a severe downturn in results.

The report claims that German head coach Farke is at serious risk of being relieved of his duties at the Yorkshire-based club in the very near future.

It is understood that former Liverpool boss Rodgers has been identified as a top target in the eventuality of Farke losing his jobs at some point before the New Year.

There is supposedly a belief on the side of Leeds that the 52-year-old would be interested in making a return to the Premier League by pledging by allegiance to the Elland Road cause.

Rodgers resigned from his second stint at Celtic earlier this month, with the manager winning 11 major titles across both of his spells at the helm of the Scottish powerhouses.

Leeds looking ahead in fear

As alluded to earlier, things could get significantly worse for Leeds this weekend as they make the trip to the blue side of Manchester.

Back-to-back matches at Elland Road afterwards would typically provide the opportunity for recovery, however Chelsea and Liverpool are the visitors to the Yorkshire venue.

If Farke’s fate isn’t already sealed, then it definitely could be by the first week of December, when Leeds could be further entrenched in the Premier League relegation battle.
