Bolton Wanderers hit five past Leeds United

Bolton Wanderers beat Leeds United 5-1 in their Championship match at Elland Road.

Bolton Wanderers have claimed a third-successive victory by thrashing Leeds United 5-1 in their Championship clash at Elland Road.

Luke Murphy had the first opportunity of the game for the hosts, but he fired an effort narrowly over the bar.

Moments later Neil Danns latched onto Lukas Jutkiewicz's knockdown, before seeing his strike saved by Jack Butland.

Midway through the half Lee Peltier attempted to find the net with a long-range effort, but Adam Bogdan held onto his strike.

On the stroke of half time Bolton took the lead, as Joe Mason fired a strike past Butland and into the bottom left-hand corner.

In the 52nd minute the visitors scored their second of the match through Jutkiewicz, who headed Jay Spearing's free kick into the back of the net.

Four minutes later Bolton scored their third of the afternoon when Zat Knight poked home following another set-piece delivery from Spearing.

Mark Davies further extended his side's lead in the 72nd minute, as he connected with Jutkiewicz's cross to head home past Butland.

With a minute left to play, Andre Moritz added a fifth for Bolton as he fired a strike into the top corner, before Matt Smith netted an injury-time consolation for the home side.
