Neil Redfearn: 'We are in a healthier position'

Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn believes that the club's 2-0 victory at Reading could lead to a number of sides being dragged into a relegation battle.

Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has revealed that he was impressed with his side's "togetherness" during the 2-0 win at Reading.

Goals from Luke Murphy and Sam Byram helped the Yorkshire outfit stretch their recent run to 11 points from six games, and Redfearn has admitted that he has his eyes on 50 points, a tally which he believes will be enough to guarantee their Championship status for next season.

The 49-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "From one to 11, I thought that we defended really well. We showed a real willingness and togetherness to not concede a goal.

"We're now 17th and it looks a lot healthier. The most important thing is that the win takes us to 35 points, which means that you're nearer that 50-mark.

"It's also bunched a lot of clubs together. There's a lot of clubs who might have thought they were safe but might yet still get dragged into it."
