Leeds United Supporters Trust confirm collapse of takeover deal

The Leeds United Supporters Trust has confirmed that the proposed deal to buy the Championship club by a consortium led by a Bahriani businessman has collapsed.

Leeds fans and the Trust were previously not happy with the way that the deal was being done, with news regarding the takeover being hard to come by.

The Trust has now posted a short statement on their Facebook page confirming the bad news fans had anticipated.

"The Leeds United Supporters Trust can confirm that the deal to buy the club has now collapsed," the statement read.

"We will be making a more detailed statement later on today once we have had the chance to establish more."

Current chairman Ken Bates took over the club in January 2005.
