Lanus vs. Talleres - prediction, team news, lineups

Two teams enjoying a decent run of results go head-to-head on Sunday, as Lanus welcome Talleres to Estadio Nestor Diaz Perez in round 21 of the Argentine Primera Division,

The hosts are unbeaten in all but one of their last 12 games, while the away side head into this one on a run of six wins from seven matches across all competitions.

Match preview

Lanus played out a second consecutive stalemate in a 1-1 draw against Union de Santa Fe at Estadio 15 de Abril on Saturday evening.

Frank Kudelka's men fell behind to Imanol Machuca's opener just past the hour mark before levelling matters through Franco Troyansky 20 minutes from time.

As a result, El Granate remain fifth in the Argentine Primera Division table, well on course to book a place in the group stage of next year's Copa Sudamericana.

Coming up next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who are yet to win any of the last seven editions of this fixture since 2018, losing five of them.

Off the back of six straight wins in front of their fans leading up to this weekend's affair, the home side will be confident of securing all three points here.

Talleres picked up a fourth consecutive victory by narrowly defeating Arsenal Sarandi 1-0 at Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes two Sundays ago.

Javier Gandolfi's men broke the deadlock through Michael Santos in the 16th minute after which they squandered several opportunities to put the game to bed.

With 40 points amassed from their 20 league outings, La Matador sit second in the standings, a whopping seven points behind division leaders River Plate.

Currently with the joint-best attacking record on the road so far, Sunday's visitors set out to put on another impressive display in front of goal away from home.

Team News

Jose Dominguez is Lanus' only guaranteed absentee for this one as he prepares to sit out an eighth match on the bounce with a damaged muscle.

Franco Troyansky grabbed the winner in the most recent encounter between Sunday's opponents, and he will be looking to deliver the goods once again.

Nicolas Pasquini and Lucas Suarez are both out of contention for Talleres through injury but the former is close to making a return to action.

Chile international Vicente Fernandez is yet to feature since March due to a long-term knee problem, which will keep him out of Sunday's clash.

Having found the back of the net seven times in his last seven outings for the away side, Michael Santos is definitely one to keep an eye on here.

Lanus possible starting lineup:

Acosta; Sanchez, Braghieri, Aguilar, Aranda; Esquivel, Belmonte, Fernandez; De la Vega, Diaz, Orozco

Talleres possible starting lineup:

Herrera; Portillo, Rodriguez, Catalan, Benavidez; Ortegoza, Villagra; Valoyes, Garro, Sosa; Santos

We say: Lanus 2-2 Talleres

Both Lanus and Talleres have shown they have goals in them, so we are expecting neither to come away with a clean sheet. That said, we can see the teams having to make do with a point apiece in what should be an entertaining share of the spoils.
