Eyupspor and Konyaspor square off on Sunday as the 2025-26 Turkish Super Lig campaign gets underway.
While Eyupspor are bidding to build on their impressive sixth-placed finish from last season, Konyaspor will be targeting the top half of the table after ending the previous campaign in 11th position.
Match preview
Having won the second-tier title in 2023-24, everyone associated with Eyupspor would have been content with a season of survival and consolidation in the top flight.
Instead, they enjoyed one of the most memorable campaigns in their history, mixing it with Turkey's elite at the top of the table before eventually finishing in sixth place.
Although they agonisingly missed out on a place in the Conference League second qualifying round by a solitary point, only positives could be taken from how they had emerged as the clear surprise package in the division.
Some notable additions have been made during the off-season, most notably Kerem Demirbay who left Galatasaray after contributing seven goals and 10 assists from 76 matches across a two-year stint.
Keeping hold of attacker Mame Thiam is the best piece of business, however, with the Senegal international having netted 15 times in 32 appearances last season.

As for Konyaspor, they are beginning their 13th consecutive campaign in Super Lig after finishing down in 11th place in 2024-25.
While that was an improvement on 16th from the previous campaign, it represented their joint-second lowest finish in the most recent five seasons.
Recep Ucar has remained at the helm in an effort to move inside the top 10 with the arrival of two-cap Romania international Marius Stefanescu one of their most notable additions, the wide player having netted in Champions League qualifying for FCSB before his departure.
Including a cup tie, these teams played on three occasions last season, the home team winning each time.

Team News
The Eyupspor XI will feature a mix of players who starred last season and who have been brought to the club in the summer.
Denis Dragus could start alongside Thiam in attack, hoping to improve on his poor return of two goals from 18 games for Trabzonspor last season.
Meanwhile, Konyaspor could line up with a similar team to the one that started the 5-0 victory over Grazer AK on July 31.
Blaz Kramer did not feature in the first XI for that game but last season's top goalscorer may come back into the team if made available.
Eyupspor possible starting lineup:
Ozer; Claro, Mujakic, Ulvan, Meras; Akbaba, Demirbay, Gurler, Kabasakal; Thiam, Dragus
Konyaspor possible starting lineup:
Deniz; Utku, Mehmet, Calusic, Yasir, Mucahit, Ufuk, Morten, Tunahan, Kaan, Bostan
We say: Eyupspor 1-1 Konyaspor
With expectations having been raised at Eyupspor, it remains to be seen whether they will react in a positive or negative way. Konyaspor's desire to improve on last season leads us to predict that a low-scoring draw may play out and be deemed acceptable by both clubs.
