Norrkoping vs. Mjallby AIF - prediction, team news, lineups

Mjallby AIF will be targeting a fourth consecutive victory when they travel to the PlatinumCars Arena for Monday's meeting with IFK Norrkoping.

The visitors are currently sitting top of the Allsvenskan table, while the hosts will head into the fixture in seventh position.

Match preview

Norrkoping boss Martin Falk has experienced mixed results in his first 11 games in senior management, having seen his side record four wins, one draw and five defeats.

The 30-year-old coach would have been relieved to see his side end a three-game winless run with a 2-1 victory in last Monday's away clash with Sirius.

Sebastian Jorgensen's first-half brace proved enough to clinch all three points to make it three away games without defeat (W2, D1), leaving Norrkoping in seventh position with 13 points to their name.

While they have fared well in their last three road trips, Norrkoping have struggled to replicate those positive results in their recent outings at the PlatinumCars Arena, having lost each of their previous four home matches since they thrashed Halmstad 3-0 on April 19.

The hosts have also failed to win any of their last six home meetings with Mjallby since they claimed a 3-2 victory in August 2013 (D4, L2).

Mjallby have built upon last season's fifth-placed finish to make a strong start to the 2025 campaign, winning eight, drawing two and losing just one of their 11 matches to put them three points clear at the top of the table.

While just over a third of the season has been played, the league leaders may already be dreaming about winning the Allsvenskan title for the first time in their history.

However, Anders Torstensson will try to keep his team's feet on the ground despite the fact that they have won each of their last three matches, including a narrow win in Thursday's away meeting with Hammarby.

Ludwig Malachowski Thorell saw his early opener cancelled out by Montader Madjed, before Alexander Johansson restored Mjallby's advantage in the 65th minute to seal a 2-1 victory, representing the club's fourth win in five away league games.

They may fancy their chances of claiming three more points on Monday, having won each of their previous three games against Norrkoping, including their last two away encounters.

Team News

Norrkoping are expected to be without goalkeeper David Mitov and midfielder Stephen Bolma due to wrist and knee injuries respectively.

Captain Christoffer Nyman will have to be assessed after he was unable to take part in the recent win over Sirius.

Defender Max Watson could replace Amadeus Sogaard, who is a doubt after being withdrawn in the early stages of the second half of last Monday's victory.

As for the league leaders, they could be without Jakob Kiilerich, Adam Petersson, Mans Isaksson, Calvin Kabuye, and Tony Miettinen.

Defender Abdullah Iqbal and midfielder Viktor Gustafson are both suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.

In positive news, Mjallby captain Jesper Gustavsson is set to return to the starting lineup after serving a one-match ban.

IFK Norrkoping possible starting lineup: Andersson; Neffati, Watson, Peprah, Kalley; Moberg Karlsson, Ceesay, Traustason; Jorgensen, Sigurgeirsson, Prica

Mjallby AIF possible starting lineup: Tornqvist; Charles, Noren, Pettersson, Stavitski; Gustavsson, Rojkjaer; Thorell, Manneh, Stroud; Johansson

We say: IFK Norrkoping 1-2 Mjallby AIF

Mjallby will be brimming with confidence after winning eight of their previous nine matches, and we believe that they will continue to build momentum by claiming a narrow win over a Norrkoping side that have lost each of their last three home games.
