Heerenveen vs. PEC Zwolle - prediction, team news, lineups

Having both returned to winning ways last time out, Heerenveen and PEC Zwolle clash at the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Saturday.

The away side came out on top in February's reverse fixture, where they claimed an emphatic 4-1 victory over the hosts.

Match preview

Heerenveen ended a 10-game winless run away from home in the league with a 2-0 triumph over Groningen on Sunday at the Hitachi Capital Mobility Stadion.

Goals in the second half from Henk Veerman and Tibor Halilovic handed Johnny Jansen's men what was just their third Eredivisie win on the road.

De Superfriezen moved into 10th place on the log as a result of that victory, and they are now level on points with Twente in ninth.

Three points from this weekend's game would temporarily move the hosts into the top half ahead of Twente's trip to Feyenoord on Sunday.

Games between Saturday's opponents have been very even of late, with the last 18 meetings yielding seven wins apiece and four draws.

Zwolle have picked up back-to-back home wins for the first time this season following a 1-0 victory over Twente on Saturday.

Virgil Misidjan's 35th-minute strike was enough to decide the contest at the MAC³PARK Stadion where Bert Konterman's men have recorded five of their seven league wins.

The Blauwvingers are in 13th place but more importantly, they are now 10 points clear of danger with only five games left to play.

This is in stark contrast to the last campaign where they hovered just above the relegation zone before the season was cancelled.

Team News

Ulysses Llanez remains absent as he continues to work his way back to full fitness after missing the last three months of action through a muscle injury.

He is joined on the sidelines by Pawel Bochniewicz, who was subbed off in the first-half against Ajax earlier in the month due to a calf problem.

Sai van Wermeskerken suffered a damaged knee in February, and the Japanese defender is yet to return to action since then.

Rico Strieder's ankle injury has seen him miss the visitors' last four games, but he is in line to make his comeback in the coming weeks.

Virgil Misidjan ended his barren run in front of goal last time out, and he will be looking to repeat his heroics in the last meeting between the sides where he put in a man-of-the-match display.

Heerenveen possible starting lineup:

Mulder; Kaib, Van Hecke, Dresevic, Floranus; Veerman, Halilovic, De Jong; Nygren, Van Bergen, Veerman

PEC Zwolle possible starting lineup:

Zetterer; Nakayama, Van Polen, Kersten, Paal; Huiberts, Lam, Reijnders; Tedic, Buitink, Misidjan

We say: Heerenveen 2-1 PEC Zwolle

Both sides will be looking to kick on from their respective wins last time out as they aim to finish the season on a high. We are predicting an end-to-end battle in this one with a narrow win for the hosts at full time.
