Go Ahead Eagles vs. Vitesse - prediction, team news, lineups

Round 11 of the 2023-24 Eredivisie season sees Go Ahead Eagles entertain the challenge of Vitesse at De Adelaarshorst on Saturday night.

Having both come out on top in their last outings, this weekend's opponents head into the clash looking to pick up where they left off.

Match preview

Go Ahead Eagles secured safe passage into the next round of the KNVB-Beker at the expense of HFC thanks to a 4-1 win in Tuesday's meeting.

Rene Hake's men trailed to Yassine Bouchnafa's late strike but managed to force extra time through Gerrit Nauber, after which goals from Oliver Edvardsen, Sylla Sow and Thibo Baeten decided the contest.

This came off the back of the back of a goalless stalemate at the hands of Almere City for the pride of the IJssel Kowet, which saw them remain fifth in the Eredivisie table.

Lying in store next is the task of facing off against an opposing outfit who are unbeaten in all but one of the last 13 editions of this fixture since 2013.

Currently on a run of four wins and a draw from their most recent five home involvements, Saturday's hosts are proving themselves to be a force to reckon with in front of their fans.

Vitesse just about saw off the threat of lower league side Groene Ster in a 1-0 triumph when the teams faced off at Sportpark Pronsenbroek.

Phillip Cocu's men edged ahead seven minutes from time through Dominik Oroz, and that was enough to get the job done for them in a tense cup tie.

Meanwhile, Geel en Zwart continually remain in the bottom three and relegation zone of the league standings, albeit only on goal difference at the moment.

Aiming to pick up back to back league wins on the road for the first time in over a year, Saturday's visitors will need to up the ante at both ends of the pitch.

Team News

Thomas Buitink and Fode Fofana are long-term absentees for Vitesse through knee injuries, and neither of them will play any part in this weekend's contest.

Davy Propper is also unavailable for the away side, although not for much longer, as he draws closer to making his comeback from an extended period on the sidelines.

Go Ahead Eagles' Luca Everink still awaits his first appearance of the season due to a muscle problem he sustained while on pre-season duty.

Twenty-seven-year-old Finn Stokkers continues to work his way up back to full fitness after missing the last six months of action through injury.

Go Ahead Eagles possible starting lineup:

De Lange; Kuipers, Kramer, Amofa, Deijl; Rommens, Linthorst; Edvardsen, Willumsson, Adekanye; Edvardsen

Vitesse possible starting lineup:

Room; Pinto, Hendriks, Isimat-Mirin, Oroz; Tielemans, Meulensteen; Manhoef, Van Ginkel, Kozlowski; Voelkerling

We say: Go Ahead Eagles 2-0 Vitesse

Vitesse's attacking woes have been a major letdown this term, and we can see them persisting here. Consequently, we are tipping Go Ahead Eagles to come away with maximum points in a relatively comfortable manner.
