Mario Gotze's goal wins it for Germany

Mario Gotze's goal is enough for Germany as they beat Chile 1-0 in Stuttgart.

Germany have edged out Chile 1-0 at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena in Stuttgart this evening.

Mario Gotze gave the Germans the lead after 16 minutes when he curled the ball into the top corner after good work from Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Prior to the goal, it was the South Americans who had started the better side.

Arturo Vidal had a header cleared off the line from a corner after eight minutes while Jean Beausejour and Alexis Sanchez also caused problems.

Vidal had another chance just before the half-hour mark, but his effort was clutched gratefully by Manuel Neuer in the Germany goal.

Kevin Grosskreutz went close with a fierce effort in the second half while Gotze was also denied by some good goalkeeping by Johnny Herrera.
