Tunnicliffe charged by FA for Twitter comments

The Football Association has charged Fulham's Ryan Tunnicliffe following comments the midfielder made on Twitter which were aimed at Middlesbrough forward Patrick Bamford.

The incident occurred after the Championship playoff final where Aitor Karanka's men were defeated 2-0 by Norwich City at Wembley.

Tunnicliffe wrote on Twitter before the comments were deleted: "Happy that Middlesbrough didn't go up, just for the main fact that @Patrick_Bamford is a sausage boy."

As a result, the FA have charged the 22-year-old with "aggravated misconduct by reference to sexual orientation", which he has until June 11 to appeal.

Tunnicliffe made 41 appearances last season for Fulham and in a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers, scoring one goal.
