Fulham promoted to Premier League

Fulham have been promoted to the Premier League following a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the playoff final at Wembley Stadium.

Tom Cairney was the difference between the two sides, as the 27-year-old netted in the 23rd minute to secure top-flight football for the Cottagers next season.

Villa face a third successive season in the Championship, as Steve Bruce's side failed to break down a solid Fulham team.

Fulham will join Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City in the 2018-19 Premier League campaign, with Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City going the other way.

The Cottagers' promotion sees them return to the top division of English football after a two-season absence.
