Fleetwood Town confirm Steven Pressley appointment

Steven Pressley gets Fleetwood Town job

League One strugglers Fleetwood Town have named Steven Pressley as their new manager.

The 41-year-old takes charge of the Cod Army after he was sacked by another third-tier outfit, Coventry City, earlier this year.

He replaces Graham Alexander, who left the club last week with the Lancashire outfit struggling in the relegation zone.

Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley told the club website: "Steven has done an excellent job in incredibly difficult circumstances at the two football clubs he has been at before.

"We truly believe given the stability, the continuality and the facilities we have at Fleetwood Town, we have all ingredients to supply any manager with a great opportunity and we think Steven will be a great success."

Fleetwood are second-bottom in the third tier with just two wins out of 11 so far this season.

Pressley's first match in charge will, ironically, be against former club Coventry on Saturday. He will watch tonight's Johnstone's Paint Trophy match against Shrewsbury Town from the stands.
