Roberto Martinez: 'No targets for Everton yet'

Everton boss Roberto Martinez reveals that he has not set his team a long-term target in the Premier League this season.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has insisted that he has not set long-term goals for his side this season.

The Toffees are currently ninth in the Premier League, four points off the pace for a Europa League spot, but the Spaniard is adamant that he and his team can only afford to focus on their next match against Aston Villa.

Martinez told the club's official website: "In the league it is impossible to set a target now. Our only objective at the moment is to win the next game.

"At the moment I feel we can compete against anyone in the league, I don't think we are inferior to anyone on our day and at our best. The only task we need to achieve is to be at our very best whenever we are on the football pitch.

"It seems like an eternity since our last home game against Sunderland and it is important against Villa that we replicate our attacking threat that we had on that day. On top of that, we want to be even stronger in our defensive duties as a team."

Everton face Villa at Goodison Park on Saturday.
