Martinez: 'De Gea made two world-class saves'

Roberto Martinez has said that "two world-class saves" from David de Gea prevented Everton from gaining a point against Manchester United this afternoon.

The Toffees went down 2-1 at Old Trafford, but De Gea made a first-half penalty save from Leighton Baines before acrobatically denying both Leon Osman and Bryan Oviedo in injury time.

After the game, Martinez admitted to BBC Sport that his side "should have more points" at this stage of the season.

"David De Gea made two world-class saves that stopped us getting a positive result," the Spanish boss said.

"The margins are very small. We are not hiding from the fact want we should have more points - we've dropped too many.

"We've played four of the top six this season but we're getting sharper and stronger. We have the international break now and we need to come back and start getting wins."

The result leaves Everton sitting precariously above the relegation zone in 17th place after just one win in their opening seven games.
