Everton signing Royston Drenthe eager to make mark on Premier League

Drenthe: ‘I suit the Premier League’

Everton’s new winger Royston Drenthe believes that he is “perfect” for the Premier League.

The 24-year-old joined the Merseyside club on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid in the last remaining hours of the transfer deadline yesterday (Wednesday).

The Dutchman, who has become out-of-favour at the Bernabeu, thinks that he is the ideal player for English football.

"I think that my qualities are English qualities, the way I play football," Drenthe told Everton’s official website.

"I have technique and I like to work hard. I think this competition is a perfect competition for me.

"The Spanish league was a good league but different. It is not so fast, it is slow. Here it goes fast and I think that is more my style of play."

Meanwhile, Everton were resigned to losing midfielder Mikel Arteta to Arsenal and striker Jermaine Beckford to Sven Goran-Eriksson’s Leicester City.
