Jamie Carragher: 'Quarter-finals good for England'

Former England defender Jamie Carragher believes that the current team will have had a successful 2014 World Cup if they reach the quarter-finals.

Former England defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that reaching the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup should be considered a success for the current team.

The Three Lions booked their place at the tournament on Tuesday night as a 2-0 victory over Poland saw them end their qualification campaign unbeaten.

"I think England will have had a good tournament if they get to the quarter-finals," Carragher told Sky Sports News.

"It looks like we are going to be involved in a group with top nations and that would make it difficult to get out of, while you also need to take into account that it will be played in South America.

"There are different weather conditions as well, so if England could get to the knockout stage they will have done well."

England will find out who they have in the group stage when the draw is made on December 6.
