Report: Steve Bruce holds talks with FA over vacant England job

Hull City boss Steve Bruce reportedly joins Sam Allardyce in being quizzed by Football Association chiefs, as the search for Roy Hodgson's successor steps up.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has reportedly been interviewed by the Football Association in regards to the vacant England managerial job.

Three Lions chiefs were thought to be close to announcing the appointment of Sam Allardyce this week, having been pressured into making a decision by his unhappy current employers Sunderland.

Bruce, along with Jurgen Klinsmann and Eddie Howe, had also been linked with succeeding Roy Hodgson in the Wembley hot seat, but Hull revealed last week that no talks had taken place with the FA.

That situation has now changed, according to The Sun, with the former Manchester United defender joining Allardyce in being quizzed by three-man panel Dan Ashworth, Martin Glenn and David Gill.

It is suggested in the same report that a decision over the next England manager could be made at some stage on Thursday, with both Sunderland and Hull desperate to move on.

Hodgson stepped down as England boss last month following an embarrassing defeat to Iceland in the first knockout round of Euro 2016.
