Hull City: 'No approach made by England for manager Steve Bruce'

No England approach for Steve Bruce

Hull City have revealed that England officials have yet to approach Steve Bruce to hold discussions over the vacant managerial job.

The 55-year-old admits to being "flattered" by links to the Three Lions role after leading Hull back into the Premier League last season at the first time of asking.

Football Association chiefs have already started interviewing potential candidates for the position, including Sunderland's Sam Allardyce, but no contact has yet been made with former Manchester United defender Bruce.

A club statement read: "Hull City can confirm there has been no approach from the FA for manager Steve Bruce."

Eddie Howe, Jurgen Klinsmann and Glenn Hoddle are also thought to be among those in consideration to replace Roy Hodgson, who resigned in the aftermath of England's last-16 defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016 last month.
