Danny Welbeck out of England squad

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has withdrawn for the England squad with a muscle strain, the Football Association have confirmed.

The 20-year-old was reportedly in line to start tonight's friendly match against Sweden alongside Bobby Zamora, but he has now returned to the Premier League champions.

The centre-forward has been awarded three caps by manager Fabio Capello since making his debut against Ghana in March of this year.

Welbeck's absence could allow Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge to make his first appearance for the national team.
