England skipper Steven Gerrard insists that Joe Hart will soon be regarded as the world's best goalkeeper.

Steven Gerrard believes that Joe Hart will soon be regarded as the best goalkeeper in world football.

England head into tomorrow's quarter-final against Italy with many tipping the match to be decided by the odd goal.

With that in mind, captain Gerrard has backed his international colleague to have a match-winning impact in Kiev.

"We have one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he will go on to be the best in the world," Gerrard said. "His performances have been fantastic and he will be one of our keys players against Italy.

"We need Joe to perform at his maximum level and he will be called upon to make a fantastic save in the match, maybe in injury time or penalty shoot-out and we trust him to do that."

Hart has conceded three goals at Euro 2012 so far.
