Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Hull City.
The Tigers are currently celebrating a famous 2-0 victory over Manchester United on the opening day of the 2026-27 Premier League campaign.
Hull's win came on the back of making 11 signings during the summer transfer window as the Championship playoff winners attempt to establish themselves back in the top flight.
However, not only are more additions anticipated between now and transfer deadline day, Hull are yet to use the loan market.
According to talkSPORT, Hull hold an interest in adding Essugo to their squad.
Hull join Essugo race
The report alleges that Hull are "exploring" whether it is plausible to secure a loan deal for the Portugal Under-21 international.
In recent days, it has been claimed that Chelsea are prepared to facilitate a temporary exit for the 21-year-old, who did not make a competitive start last season.
Having featured in four of Chelsea's six pre-season friendlies, it appeared that the midfielder could remain in Xabi Alonso's squad.
Instead, BlueCo's intention is seemingly for the former Sporting Lisbon youngster to spend a season elsewhere.
Although Chelsea's preference is realistically a Premier League club where Essugo would play on a regular basis, Strasbourg remain an option.
Chelsea loan exit right move for Essugo
Even if Enzo Fernandez eventually leaves Chelsea for Manchester City, the Blues still have enough options in the engine room and would have the ability to find a replacement should they so wish.
Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Jordan Henderson and Valentin Barco are also available to Alonso.
When Essugo made just five Chelsea appearances in 2025-26, he needs to be part of a squad where he is viewed as an important player.
Whether Hull is the right club is yet to be determined, a consequence of Sergej Jakirovic already having plenty of central-midfield options at his disposal.
