Liverpool beaten by Celtic in Dublin

Celtic have earned a 1-0 win over Liverpool in tonight's friendly at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

The Scottish champions took the lead with 12 minutes on the clock as Amido Balde looped his effort over the onrushing Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool fought back strongly, but they were denied a number of times by goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska.

The Pole kept out efforts from Philippe Coutinho and Stewart Downing, while Steven Gerrard blazed a shot over at the end of the opening half.

The Premier League side thought that they had equalised 10 minutes into the second half, but Kolo Toure's header was ruled out for offside.

Coutinho fired wide with 20 minutes left before Jordan Henderson's tame shot was easily saved as Celtic held on for the win.
