Lennon: 'We were exceptional today'

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has lavished praise on his side following their 2-0 win over Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from Anthony Stokes and Kris Commons saw off what the Hoops boss described as a "very good" Motherwell team.

Lennon told BBC Sport: "I'm more delighted with the performance of the team today. Against a very good Motherwell team, it's an exceptional performance.

"Looking at them yesterday, you could see they were all in good condition, and I think they were just looking forward to getting out there and playing again.

"We controlled the game and some of the chances we created were great. I think the fans got good value for money today. It could have been more, but I'm thrilled with a clean sheet too."

The result lifts Celtic above Inverness Caledonian Thistle to the top of the table.
