Preview: Cardiff City vs. Ipswich Town

Cardiff vs. Ipswich

Russell Slade will be hoping to build on an impressive start to life at Cardiff City when Ipswich Town visit the Welsh capital for his second match on Tuesday night.

Slade guided Cardiff to a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday lunchtime, ending the high-flyers' 11-match unbeaten start to the season.

The former Leyton Orient boss made three changes for his first game at the helm and may want to go with the same XI against Ipswich.

Kenwyne Jones will be pushing to return to the starting lineup, though, and could well be favoured over Adam Le Fondre against a physical Ipswich backline.

The sixth-placed visitors come into the game on an eight-game unbeaten streak in the league, but they have suffered two crushing draws in their last two games.

Before the international break, they conceded a 94th-minute equaliser at Forest and on Saturday, 10-man Blackburn Rovers did the same in the 93rd minute at Portman Road.

Mick McCarthy was forced to leave out captain Luke Chambers and in-form Daryl Murphy against Rovers yesterday, but both could return for the trip to Cardiff.

The last meeting between these two sides was a goalless draw in January 2013. Cardiff have won just one of their last nine games against Ipswich, who have come out on top in six of those matches.
