Sami Hyypia: "I'm not a quitter"

Brighton manager Sami Hyypia insists that he does not intend to quit the club following their 1-0 defeat at home to Millwall.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Sami Hyypia has insisted that he will not resign following the team's defeat to Millwall.

The Seagulls failed to get out of the relegation zone on Friday night as a 1-0 defeat at home to the Lions extended their winless run to five matches.

Fans vented their anger at Hyypia at the final whistle, but the former Liverpool defender claims that he has no plans to walk away from the club.

"I feel very frustrated. Usually I'm not a quitter, I'm a fighter," he told BBC Sport. "I can understand the fans' reaction, I don't expect to be patted on the shoulder and told 'well done' with how things are going.

"When you take this kind of job, you're always prepared for everything. I'm not afraid of anything happening. Sometimes it doesn't go your way, but in my mind I'm ready for it."

Brighton are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship.
