Callum Wilson out for six months with ruptured ACL

Callum Wilson out for six months

Bournemouth have announced that striker Callum Wilson will be out for six months with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Wilson, 23, had scored five goals in six Premier League games at the start of the season to top the scoring charts before he suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday's match at Stoke City.

"It's very disappointing for Callum, after what has been an exceptional start to the season, but I am sure he will come back fitter and stronger," Cherries boss Eddie Howe told the club website.

"Callum is the type of character who won't be fazed by such a setback, and I am sure he will turn this experience into a positive in the long run."

Wilson's injury comes after Bournemouth lost their two biggest signings of the summer, Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel, to similar knee problems earlier this season.
