Eddie Howe says Callum Wilson injury 'looks serious'

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe admits that Callum Wilson's injury looks serious after the striker was taken from the pitch on a stretcher during the 2-1 defeat to Stoke.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has said that Callum Wilson's injury does not look good and admitted his worry that it could be another long-term layoff for the club.

The Cherries, who have already lost summer signings Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings for six months and the rest of the season respectively, saw top scorer Wilson stretchered from the field in the first half of their 2-1 defeat to Stoke City on Saturday.

Howe bemoaned the club's "unbelievable luck" after a third serious-looking knee injury, and said that the full extent of the damage will not be known until the striker has a scan.

"It doesn't look good for Callum," he told reporters. "He is in a brace, he is on crutches and he is in a lot of pain. We won't know the full extent until we have the injury scanned, but it looks like it could be another serious knee injury.

"He took a whack to the knee, thought he was OK to carry on but then collapsed. It is a huge blow, and it doesn't look good.

"There is nothing that we could have done. To get potentially three similar injuries, I don't know what to say. It is unbelievable luck, but these things happen in football."

Wilson had scored five goals in his first six appearances before today's match.
