Borussia Dortmund looking to set multiple club records vs Mainz

Borussia Dortmund could set multiple new club records in their title-deciding encounter against Mainz 05 this weekend.

Dortmund are two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table heading into the final day, knowing a win will claim a first league crown since 2012.

Success at Augsburg last weekend saw Dortmund leapfrog Bayern Munich, who lost to RB Leipzig, and BVB's excellent season is illustrated by the number of records they can set should they win tomorrow.

Victory would seal a 15th home win of the season, totalling 46 points collected at Signal Iduna Park, both of which would become club records.

In addition to that, BVB have won their last 11 Bundesliga matches in front of their own fans, and recording a 12th would equal the club record run set 29 years ago.

Edin Terzic's side have been scintillating in attack too, netting 53 goals in their 16 home games this season, meaning they are just one goal away from matching another club record, when they scored 54 home goals during the 1963-64 season.

However, things could still go wrong for Dortmund on the final day, with their inferior goal difference meaning that any failure to beat Mainz would see Bayern Munich pip them to the title if they beat Koln.
